| Electronic Media: |
This location refers to streaming videos from PBS, accessed via NCLIVE. The NCLIVE Video Collection is a collection of more than 370 high quality documentary and educational video programs produced for the Public Broadcasting Corporation (PBS). The videos are viewable from any computer running Flash Player version 9 or higher with a relatively good Internet connection (at least 175 Kbps; however, it is not possible to view the videos over a dial-up Internet line). |

This location refers to items in the English Department collection, located on the second floor of Hines Hall. |
| Fiction: |
The Fiction section is on the second floor of the library, next to the stairwell. |
| General Collection: |
Books in the General Collection are found in the stacks on the second floor. They represent the majority of our circulating collection. |
| Government Docs (CDs): |
The library houses a collection of CD-ROMs produced by the U.S. government. They are located in file cabinets in the Government Documents area on the first floor of the library.

Paper indexes are located on index tables in the middle of the first floor. They do not circulate. |

| Maps: |
This location refers to a collection of country, state, and topographical maps that are housed in the Government Documents area. |
Music Library Scores: Music Library Recordings |
This location refers to materials such as scores, music records and compact disks, that are found in the Roma Hackney Music Building. |
| North Carolina Collection: |
The North Carolina Collection includes books written by NC authors. It is located next to the stairwell on the first floor. |
| Pamphlets: |
This location refers to a collection of pamphlets, clippings, and documents that are housed in file cabinets along the back wall on the first floor of the library. There are three pamphlet collections: General Pamphlets; North Carolina Pamphlets; and Global Pamphlets. |
| Periodicals: |
"Periodicals" refers to the library's collection of journals and magazines. They can be found in two separate areas in three different formats: paper, microfiche, and microfilm. Periodicals in paper are located on the first floor of the library. Periodicals in microfiche and microfilm are located in the northwest corner of the library on the second floor. Periodicals do not circulate. |
| Professional Development: |
Resources in the Professional Development Collection are located adjacent to the North Carolina Collection on the first floor of the library. The items in this collection circulate only for Barton College faculty and staff. |
| Reference: |
Books in Reference are found in the stacks on the first floor, near the Circulation/Reference Desk. They do not circulate. |
| Reserves: |
Resources in the Reserves Collection are located behind the circulation desk on the first floor. These may consist of either library materials or personal materials that an instructor has requested be put on reserve for a particular class, usually for a limited amount of time. Some reserve items, however, remain on permanent reserve. Reserve items must be checked out, and barring a few exceptions, they must only be used in the library. |

| State Docs (microfiche): |
This location refers to North Carolina state publications in microfiche format. They can be found in one of the microfiche cabinets in the Government Documents area. |
