HOW TO EVALUATE WEB SITES--Authority and Accuracy
- Authority and Accuracy: Who created the page?
Reputable pages should identify the author(s) of the page, because that gives you an idea of the accuracy and reliability of the site's information.
Things to consider:
- Is the author someone who's an authority in the field?
- Is the author an organization that is reputable?
- Is there an "About Us" link that tells you who's responsible for the content of the page? If so, what does it say about that person's or organization's credentials or authority?
- Example of an authoritative, accurate site:
American Mathematical Society
