Biology

All the Virology on the WWW
Provides both the professional and general public with access to information about viruses. Provides links to the major virology-related web sites. Of special interest is "the Big Picture Book of Viruses," an index to virus pictures on the web and a resource for viral taxonomy. Also available is a collection of "online Virology and Microbiology Course Notes."

GreenFILE EBSCOHost

NCLIVE
GreenFILE offers well-researched information covering all aspects of human impact to the environment. Its collection of scholarly, government and general-interest articles and other documents includes content on global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more. The database provides indexing and abstracts for approximately 295,000 records, as well as Open Access full text for more than 4,600 records.

Integrated Taxonomic Information System
Provides authoritative taxonomic information on plants, animals, and microbes of North America and the world. The information comes from a partnership of US, Canadian, and Mexican agencies, other organizations, and taxonomic specialists.

Botany

Carnivorous Plant Database
Includes over 3,000 entries, giving an exhaustive nomenclatural synopsis of all carnivorous plants.

PLANTS National Database
A single source of standardized information about plants. The database focuses on vascular plants, mosses, liverworts, hornworts, and lichens of the US and its territories. The PLANTS Database includes names, checklists, automated tools, identification information, species abstracts, distribution data, crop information, plant symbols, and other plant information.

Chemistry

Global Instructional Chemistry
Presents a new concept in the teaching of chemistry. Pages will include modern chemistry in action, including "hyperactive" molecules. Content includes chemical problems, links to resources/databases, etc.

Links for Chemists
An index of over 8,550 chemistry resources on the web. Goals of the site are to disseminate chemical information, to facilitate contact between chemists, to index educatonal resources relating to chemistry, and to raise awareness of chemistry.

NIST Chemistry WebBook
Provides users with easy access to chemical and physical property data for chemical species through the internet. The data in the Chemistry WebBook are organized by chemical species. Users can search for chemical species by various means, and the system will display data for the species.

WebElements: The Periodic Table on the World Wide Web
A high-quality source of information on the WWW relating to the periodic table.

Physics

Physics and Astronomy Reference
A portion of the physlink.com site, the Physics and Astronomy Reference section is especially helpful to middle school and older students and educators, as well as fans of the physical sciences. A variety of information is listed, including physical constants, astronomy data, unite conversions, an interactive periodic table, all of which are hyperlinked to provide additional information. The site also offers links to additional resources, some of which are specifically for educators.

NIST Physical Reference Data
Provides an Elemental Data Index accessing database holdings organized by element. Data is divided into the following nine sections: physical constants; atomic spectroscopic data; molecular spectroscopic data; ionization data; X-ray and Gamma Ray data; radiation dosimetry data; nuclear physics data; condensed matter physics data; and other NIST data.
