Class Act: Promoting Access for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Students
This site's goal is to improve existing teaching practice by enhancing access to instruction for deaf and hard-of-hearing students mainstreamed in postsecondary classrooms. Sections featured include challenges--and strategies for dealing with them--facing faculty members working in inclusion classrooms, a discussion board for teachers, links to videotapes with comments of students facing access issues, and links to videotapes of faculty discussing their experiences teaching in mainstreamed classes. Colonial and State Records of North Carolina (Beta release)
Documenting the American South, a digitization project at UNC-Chapel Hill, is in the process of digitizing the 26-volume print set called The Colonial and State Records of North Carolina. Published between 1886 and 1914, the print set includes documents and materials from throughout the country and from several European repositories covering the earliest days of North Carolina's settlement by Europeans through the ratification of the United States Constitution. Users of the digitized version of the documents at this site can access the original publication's master index and browse through the series as the editors arranged it. They can also search the full text of each document and search by several metadata elements, including creator, date, title, and document type, created specifically for the digital collection. As they are digitized, additional volumes will continue to be added to this beta release.

This wonderful search engine searches a full text journal collection called PubMed Central and an online E-books collection. In addition, it also searches PubMed and other life sciences resources. Whereas Medline via PubMed does not contain many full-text articles, PubMed Central does. A great place to start looking for medical and life-science articles.

Provides citations and abstracts for over 750 educational journals and for thousands of education-related documents. While not all titles in ERIC are full-text, links to full-text articles in other EBSCO databases or directly from ERIC are provided where available. MEDLINE is one of the largest indexes to medical information and is used heavily by doctors and other health professionals. It indexes 3,500+ journals published internationally. The articles indexed tend to be very technical and are not in full text. Some of the journals covered are available in the library or in full text through other databases.

Where MEDLINE via PubMed is aimed primarily at health care professionals, MEDLINEplus provides information helpful to both medical professionals and consumers. NCLIVE Media Collection (PBS Streaming Videos)
The NCLIVE Video Collection is a collection of more than 370 high quality documentary and educational video programs produced for the Public Broadcasting Corporation (PBS). Chosen by North Carolina librarians for use in supporting education and for general interest, the collection includes programming covering the sciences, US and world history, biography, current events, and the arts, as well as a variety of other subjects. In addition, several educational series for children are included. The video collection comprises programming in the sciences, history, biography, the arts, and a variety of other subjects. This includes Ken Burns’ "Baseball," "The Civil War," and "Jazz" as well as the selected episodes from series such as "American Experience," "Frontline," "Scientific American Frontiers," and for kids, "Cyberspace" and "Liberty's Kids," among others.
The videos will be viewable from any computer running Flash Player version 9 or higher with a relatively good Internet connection (at least 175 Kbps; however, it will not be possible to view the videos over a dial-up Internet line).
The videos NCLIVE is offering have been created to stream in two formats – a lower bandwidth option (175 Kbps) and a higher bandwidth option (400 Kbps). Additional options may be created in the future based on demand. No other hardware or software should be necessary to view the NCLIVE Video Collection.
NC NASA Educator Resource Center
The center is a joint effort of UNC-Charlotte's J. Murrey Atkins Library, its Center for Mathematics, Science, and Technology Education, and NASA's Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. Housed at UNC-Charlotte's J. Murrey Atkins Library, the center provides inservice and preservice workshops in addition to serving as a preview and distribution center for NASA materials suitable for classroom use. These materials can provide a springboard for classroom discussions in life science, physical science, astronomy, earth science, environmental, mathematics, and career education. Materials are evaluated and assigned a grade level by a task force composed of educators representing the kindergarten through post-secondary levels.

North Carolina State Publications Collection
Created and maintained by the State Library of North Carolina, this digital collection contains current and historical North Carolina state publications. The collection includes informational brochures and pamphlets, various reports (annual, biennial, technical, statistical, etc.), serials (newsletters, checklists, magazines, etc.), handbooks, studies, and a variety of other information resources produced by North Carolina state government.
